Roosevelt Elk, Redwood National Park, California
The Roosevelt Elk (Cervus canadensis roosevelti) are the biggest wildlife encountered by most visitors to Redwood National Park. Roosevelt Elk are herbivores, eating grasses, woody plants, and berries. Approximately 1,000 elk roam freely throughout Redwood National Park; this male elk was seen near Elk Prairie.
