Anna's Hummingbird, Big Sur, California
An Anna's Hummingbird (Calypte anna) briefly hovers midair surrounded by a patch of flowers. The Anna's Hummingbird inhabits the west coast of the United States as well as southern Arizona. Males have iridescent red heads and females have gray spotted throats. The Anna's Hummingbirds diet primarily consists of nectar from flowers and feeders, but they may also eat small insects.
