McWay Falls, Big Sur, California
Star Trails over McWay Falls, a unique waterfall along the central California coast that flows directly into the ocean (also known as a tidefall). McWay Falls, in Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park, in Big Sur, flows throughout the year and is only one of two tidefalls in California. Due to a long exposure and facing in a southerly direction, the stars appear to streak across the night sky in a downward arc.
