Sequoia Star Trails, Sequoia National Park, California
Giant Sequoia trees (Sequoiadendron giganteum) are the largest trees in the world by volume. Giant Sequoia trees can grow to 300 feet tall and up to 50 feet in diameter. Giant Sequoias are also among the oldest living trees on the planet, some of which are 2,000+ years old. Giant Sequoias are found only in California, on the western slopes of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Sequoias thrive in a climate composed of dry summers and snowy winters, at an elevation of 4,500-7,000 feet. A long exposure allows the stars to streak across the sky above these beautiful giants.
