Red-Bellied Turtle, Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, Maryland
This northern red-bellied turtle (Pseudemys rubriventris) was sunning on a log in a freshwater canal in Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge.
The still water of the canal made the reflection almost like a mirror image; the details in his claws are rather amazing.
Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge is a top wildlife location on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, containing marshlands, freshwater ponds, and forests.
